Proverbs 4:23 says "Above all else, guard your heart, for it is the wellspring of life." I think that this verse says a lot about keeping your personal space safe. Not just your physical comfort zone, but your emotional comfort zone as well. Everyone needs to have places in their hearts that only certain people have access to: Safe places, that only safe people can touch.
It doesn't mean that you shut everyone out. It just means that you only let those who are worthy in.
I'm realizing this, because I've recently had quite a few invasions of my emotional comfort zone(I've even done a bit of invading myself). Invasions that I allowed when I shouldn't have. People who don't have the right to be, have been getting "all up in my emotional space." Why? Because I let them.
It's kind of hard for me not to get mad at myself for my utter stupidity, but I guess it's all a learning process. I've learned to say "no" to people who I don't want in my comfort zone... and most importantly, I've learned to appreciate the few special people who have earned my trust and gained entrance into my heart.
